About GELEILA.

Geleila Mekonnen was born on August 14, 2005, in Wiley, TX. She was the first-born child to her father, Mekonnen Hailemeskel, and her mother, Ethiopia Belete. Gelila was an older sister and an amazing role model to her sister, Sara Mekonnen, and her brother, Kalabe Mekonnen.

Geleila Grew up in Wiley, TX where she attended Frank McMillan Jr. High School and Wylie East High School, for her 9th-grade education. When Geleila reached the age of 14, she was diagnosed with a very rare cancer on her leg called Clear Cell Sarcoma (CCS) that affects only 1% of all Sarcoma cases. After many efforts and different failed treatments, the cancer eventually spread to the rest of her body. On March 6, 2020, Gelila joined her heavenly Father in paradise. She was a passionate member of her church choir and had a strong passion for helping others. She was a kind-hearted individual who loved everyone around her.

Geleila was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend, and most importantly a child of Almighty God.
